Chaos-Zen - Mural painting, oil and encaustic on linen - 3m x 5m.

The dichotomy between chaos and zen represents the duality between two opposing concepts. On one hand, "chaos" symbolizes lack of order, disorganized complexity, and confusion. On the other hand, "zen" represents tranquility, simplicity, and harmony. This dichotomy reflects the contrast between turmoil and calm, complexity and simplicity, inviting reflection on how these opposites coexist and balance in various aspects of life and philosophy.

"The Maya Blue pigment and the encaustic technique are two distinctive elements in this painting-mural, 'Chaos-Zen.' Maya Blue, derived from indigo, was widely used by the Maya civilization in their murals. This pigment, prepared artificially due to the lack of natural minerals in the region, persisted from the Late Preclassic period to the Late Postclassic era, surviving even the Spanish conquest.

On the other hand, the encaustic technique involves mixing pigments with hot wax, creating a versatile and durable medium. This ancient method, utilized by various cultures, allows the achievement of a variety of textures and effects. Both the Maya Blue pigment and the encaustic technique contribute to the richness of this piece, part of the collection 'Soledad.'"
